Back to June...should I?
I must admit writing a blog about Louie's cancer is not easy! If I write this blog than I must acknowledge he has/had cancer and I have always been in denial. Maybe it doesn't matter because the things I have to do to keep Louie healthy are so intense that I don't have time to acknowledge whether he has cancer or not!
I will never forget how shocked I was when Dr Seoud suggested ruling out Osteosarcoma, bone cancer!
As we sat while they xrayed Louie, April and I barely muttered a word......Cancer.....no it couldn't be!
Well on that fateful day in June of 2012, Louie's xrays came back with a spot on the wrist of his front paw! Here's what we saw. You will notice a shadow in his bone right above the joint. This was considered very suspicious and looking like cancer.
Well, Back to June:
June 2012 is when Louie began limping after slipping on our new ceramic tile. Naive as I was, he was chasing our new kitten and I figured he slipped and sprained his ankle. April, my partner, took Lou to Calimesa Vet Office and the doctor moved the ankle/leg around and diagnosed it as a sprain.....and sent us home with pain meds and a "Not to worry diagnosis'!
Two weeks later, Louie was still limping and I saw an add for East Valley Vetrinary in Mentone, CA for acupuncture Since Louie's limp had not gone away I figured acupuncture might work. So off to the doctor we went.

So June off 2012 began our adventure with Louie the Cancer dog. I must admit when I saw the xrays I did not readily accept the diagnosis. In fact, the next day I wisked Louie off to North Side Vetrinary in San Bernardino, CA for a second opinion......and not the last I received. I will explain in my next post!

Happy Friday...Louie's Wheely is here
Well it;s 29 degrees here in SoCal. Guess it snowed in some areas.
Poor barn cats are all curled up with each other keeping warm on the proch.
Thank God I blanketed the horses.
Going to finally have are laundry room moved to the garage so we can use the room for a pantry. Personally, I am always scared when we hire someone to move water and gas lines. I always get scared they will jack things up. Guess I will be sure and clarify some things before the hammering starts to put my mind at peace.
Louie's wheelchair finally came yesterday and I promise to post pics this morning when he takes his first walk. It's neat to see a tripawd walk easy on his 3 legs with the assistance of his wheely.
Here are some preliminary pics:

Yippee Ki Yay
Yeppers...we went to the Series1 - Round 1 Buckle Series Sorting Event yesterday at the Yucaipa Equestrian Arena. Met and talked with some very nice people and watched the teams, pros and amateurs working and sorting the cows. If you own a horse you will find yourself getting all enthused about riding and working with your horse.
For me, since I have two knee replacements, I so need to build my horse ramp so I can get on my horse since I can't bend my knees up high enough to reach and lift myself in the saddle.
Anyone want to help? LOL
I have a great horse who is trained to let you stand on a platform above him....most horses don't like that. His name is Poppy and he is a seventeen year old Quarter/Arab mix. Some would say he has losey confirmation but I love him.
There's my baby in saddle. Good old horse I would say.
I have another horse, Bandit but he has a bum leg and can't be ridden anymore. Torn this and that in his leg. He was our bestest of horses. But we still love him.
It's so weird, I had my knees replaced, my horse has a bum leg and my dog has a leg amputated........weird how our animals replicate us!
Either way, it is my goal to get my fat butt in shape enough t get up on my horse. I really need to take riding lessons so I can get my confidence up. Im a little too hesitant and scared and maybe a trainer could help me? Well guys, have a great Sunday and if you love horses and live in the Yucaipa, Ca area look up the Equestrian Arena for info on their events. http://www.centsable1.com/
Morning Sunday Morning
It's a little bit chilly here in SoCal. Looks like rain today and it's cold enough to snow on the mountains.
Here's what the weather looks like from my back porch. I've got a great warm fire going this morning to take the chill off the house too.

Happy New Years Eve, another sleep through!
New Years Eve day, what can I say? I had to have a tooth pulled, yuk! In fact, this is the second tooth I have had pulled in a month. What a pain in the rump, having a tooth pulled on New Years Eve day but I figured if I didn't do it soon the tooth would act up and than the dentists would all be out New Years Day and my ship would have been sunk! So here I sit blogging with one less tooth. Due the inconvenience of being toothless, I once again fell asleep before the big clock chimed and missed all the celebrating. I did stop in with April to our neighbors Janice and Robin to say my Happy New Years and all that before ducking out the door and racing to get the couch. Getting a tooth pulled can take it out of you!
Hi I am Debby, the eldest daughter of the family, 57 yrs old now....wow, where did the time go.
It's my brainy idea to write this blog for my family this year.
I suspect that if we work really hard, portions of this year will be exciting and filled with cool news that even strangers who might not know us would love to hear! I will give this a ry and we will see.
My family is originally from Altoona, Pa. We were a family of eight children, one boy and 7 girls born to Louis and Anna (Maillard) Muscatelli. The son, the eldest, Dennis, also known as Denny passed several years ago at the age of 37 from a heart attack. Someday, not now, I will talk more about that but for now you get the picture, we are a big family.
Here's the run down:
Dennis married once to a Susan Barefoot from Altoona, Pa, divorced and now deceased from heart problems
Debby single, and gay living with a 20 year partner named April.
Shari married to Richard Depp from Altoona, Pa....2 children-a boy and a girl
Vicci married to William (Bill) Noel from Altoona, PA 2 children Kelly and Nicole
Tracy married to Brian Thomson from Scotland 3 boys, Alex, Sammy and Max
Jill living with Glen Carr not married but if you ask her she is married. more on this later....... a boy and girl, Daniel and Jessica
Jennifer married to James Sutherland from Scotland a boy and a girl Bella and Nicholas
and finally Christina married to Harold Stewart from California one buy Hunter
DO THE MATH WE ARE A BIG FAMILY!
Anyways, enough for introductions for now!
See you later!

January 2, 2013 A new year, a new day and lots of resolutions!
Morning everyone. Well I actually got off my butt and took Rufus for a walk this morning. One of my New Years resolutions is to be healthier, you know, at 57, Menopause takes over and you start sitting on your ass and complaining about the aches and pains of everyday life which at this age, can be quite a few.
Talking about New Years Resolutions here are mine:
Talking about New Years Resolutions here are mine:
- More exercise
- Go to Gym
- Quit complaining about health and exercise more
- Eat better....I eat like a kid...all junk food, no vitamins
- Take pain meds when I hurt.....I don't like to take pain meds but I am tired of suffering. Even when I had my tooth pulled, well the first one, considering I had two pulled in the last 4 weeks, I didn't take a Motrim and suffered. STUPID THING TO DO! So yes I resolved to take an aspirin or Motrim once in a while when needed. Little less suffering is better for the mind.
- Acupuncture...yep time to go back
- Lose weight...goal....10 lbs
- Find things to laugh at. Yep that's a weird one huh? Well, I feel like I don't laugh like I used to and it' time!
- Stop the nagging....April and I seem to get at each other lately.....time to stop that!
and I will add to the list as I go on. I did make a vision board this year. I am not done with it yet but it's cool. For those of you who don't know what they are, you get a corkboard and cut out pics from mags or print out ones in your pics collection and add them to the board. They represent the things you want to do or have or receive for the year. It's very inspiring and helps you NOT forget your New Years promises to yourself.
Well enough about that...go get yourself a board and try it you will get the hang of it.
By the way, Dad and Mom were over yesterday and April's Mom and brother Rick for dinner. Here's some pics of the sauerkraut dinner April and I cooked. It was a great time and a great way to spend the first day of the year.
Meet my friends Rufus and Louie!
Well it's day 2 of the New Year 2013. Thought I would introduce myself and some friend. This fellow to the left is Rufus, my partners (well mine too) Great Pyrenees. He's 8.
Be warned if you hate dogs you will hate future posts in this blog because I love my animals and there is always something going on with them.
Below is Louie, he is a tripawd who just had his leg amputated because he had cancer. He is sporting his new wheelchair we just bought from Eddies Wheels. Unfortunately, we had to send it back for adjustments but more on that later. These are my two friends.....and yes they rule our world. We...being me and my partner April.......yes we are gay....we have been partners for 20 years....so get past all that....life is not always the way ....that being you......think it should be!
